Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Oh Instagram - how much enjoyment you give me. I'm forever lusting over beautiful pictures and sharing inspiration throughout my week. It's an app that allows me to express myself through images and create a lovely, colourful feed that can inspire others. As you might guess from the images, I have a sweet tooth and can't go a few days without posting a picture of a delicious cake or homemade delight. There's a reason I don't have a six pack but who cares, life is short - eat the cake!!

Why Alexa Chung is still a fashion style icon in 2016

Alexa Chung // When M&S announced they would be launching a new collection with Alexa Chung, my heart skipped a beat. Alexa Chung has been a huge style influence for me over the years, and she continues to do so for very obvious reasons. If we take our minds back to 2008, I was a huge fan girl, lusting over her Mulberry handbags and knee-high socks. Flash forward to 2016 and Chung's style has evolved over the years but I still continue to love every single piece of clothing that she wears. This girl looks effortless, I seriously can't find fault with any of the outfits, and I don't want too. Alexa continues to inspire me; as a self-confessed lover of girly dresses, Alexa continues to promote that trend and keep it cool for the likes of little old me.

A Grey Kind of Day - Outfit of the Day

A Grey Kind of Day // Let's face it, we all get those days when all we want to do is stay in bed and hide ourselves underneath the warm covers and not face the world outside. I've been feeling like that lately, especially since the weather has decided to take a dramatic turn into autumn. I'm missing the sunshine of summer and, quite honestly, feeling a little grey. I think my mood is reflected in my clothes this week - I've been gravitating towards darker colours, and that's when you know winter is coming. Without sounding too much like a character from Game of Thrones, winter is coming but I'm excited. I like the colder and darker months, as to me, they resemble hot chocolate, fuzzy socks and an excuse to stay in bed for longer.

Bug Bee Boom Earrings Review 2016

Bug Bee Boom // You will all know by now that I'm a huge lover of jewellery, or generally anything that sparkles, and have been building a collection of costume jewellery for many years now. There is nothing better than dressing up a relatively simple outfit with a dazzling pair of earrings or making a statement (literally) with an intricate necklace. Last week, I was very fortunate enough to be sent a pair of earrings from a new online jeweller, Bug Bee Boom. I opted for a pair of shiny swing-back earrings, as I'm absolutely obsessed with this style at the moment. Swing-back earrings are very different from the traditional earring shape, and helps to add the perfect amount of sparkle. The swing-back style is also very unique and can help to transform a simple outfit - just let the earrings do all the talking.

Top Ten Outfits for Autumn/ Winter 2016

Autumn Days // So, it's that time of year again - Autumn. As soon as the leaves turn golden brown and fall to the ground, we know it's time to throw on layer upon layer of cosy knits, and enjoy our first pumpkin spiced latte. It's also my favourite time of year, I think because i'm from Scotland and we do Autumn so well here. We get the rain, we get the dark nights, we get the roaring bonfires and we get the bright abundance of snow as soon as December hits. I think that's why I also love to dress for A/W, and one brand that does that so well is Simons. This vibrant brand has been offering the most sought-after styles and looks since 1840! I've selected a few of my favourite pieces from their new collection, which are perfect for the colder months ahead.

Blue F&F Dress - Outfit of the Day

Florence and Fred // Ahhhh Tesco. Whoever decided to launch a fashion range for the company knew they were taking a risk - launching a supermarket clothing range can have dramatic effects for retailers, good and/or bad. It's funny, I actually wrote a research paper on F&F during my final year at university. I decided to give it a read over before I wrote this post and I had forgotten just how successful F&F has been worldwide. F&F is now worth over £1 billion, so this is serious business. I own two F&F dresses and I love them. They are stylish, flattering and perfect for either work or casual events. I think F&F do a great job at catering the market and I love being able to shop for clothes whilst also drooling over a packet of crisps and some burgers.

My Life in Pictures // Instagram

Instagram // Hello everyone, here is another influx of photos from my Instagram account. If you haven't guessed already, I'm pretty obsessed with the app and love to share pictures of things that are inspiring me throughout the week. One thing that I particularly love to share is motivational quotes - I like to stay positive and optimistic as much as possible, and love to share constant, happy reminders to myself and to my followers. I've touched on ways in which you can try to stay more positive in my previous post here, but even just sharing a motivational quote on Instagram can do the world of good.

Grunge Vibes from ASOS - Outfit of the Day

Grunge // I took these photos just as the sun was setting one day last week - I think you can tell because there is a slight glimmer of sunshine on my hair and yet, a gloomy tinge across the photos. I quite like the effect that the sun caused - it fits the mood of the post. How many of you love grunge music? I can't say I'm a avid fan but there is one band in particular that I just lurve - Pearl Jam. Eddie Vedder's voice is just like an angel to my ears - that man can saaanngggg. I love most of their songs but I'm particularly obsessed with Black right now - I've been listening to this live performance from the 90s on repeat - unreal (extra sweet if you crank the volume right up and sing like nobody's watching!!)....

The shine-obsessed magpie inside of me can never resist a new piece of sparkle to add to my ever-growing collection. Last week, I was contacted by the lovely Carol from Moonstone Magic Shop, an online jewellery boutique specialising in gorgeous, delicate jewellery.

The Velvet Touch - Fashion Trend for Autumn/ Winter 2016

Velvet // I know what you're thinking - velvet for A/W? Groundbreaking. But, hear me out. Those that may have already read the huge September issue of Vogue will know that velvet is going to be a big trend for the season ahead. This is not too surprising as velvet has always been a prominent fabric for autumn/ winter. Many celebrities and stars have already been one step ahead of the game, incorporating velvet into their summer wardrobes, gearing them up for the transition into the colder, darker months. I'm a huge fan of velvet - I think it stems back to the very early days of attending birthday parties or Sunday school lunches at church. My mum would always dress me in my 'Sunday best' which was always a vintage style black velvet dress with white lace peter pan collar. The dress was matched with cute little T-bar sandals and white frilly socks. I can definitely see where my love for fashion came from, as this sounds like something I would wear today.

Anyways, I wanted to share some of my favourite velvet looks over the last few months:

Monki Polka Dot Hearts - Outfit Of The Day

Monki // In my previous post, here, I talked about my time at university spent in Denmark. I touched on my love for all things Danish, particularly the Scandi style fashion. During my time in the Scandinavian country, I got to discover many different fashion brands that were still quite unknown to the British high street. One brand that I came to know and love is Monki. I'm so happy that this brand has continued to grow in popularity and receive the recognition it deserves.
